In July 2023 I placed 12 tin can cameras, loaded with Ilford photographic paper, out on a property in Upstate New York. Over the following 12 months the sun made it's way across the sky each day, and on bright days it burnt it's path into the photographic paper. I recently recovered the cans (very pleased to find them all still in place, often they are disrupted by curious wildlife, this time all that happened was wren building their nest in the bee shelter underneath one), and scanned in the images. No development needed, I just scanned them in and reversed them from their negative state to a positive state. Here are all of the finished images, and a film of the recovery process. The main joy and purpose of this project was most certainly in the process, but I think some of the results are thought provoking and beautiful, so I'm placing them here for those who'd like a closer look.
